Whenever I design and list a new @airbnb I have to come up with a name for it. All of the ones I design and manage have “Fox” somewhere in the name. This one is the Fox Castle. Most of the time, the name has to come to me at the last moment when I’m actually making the listing. However, I do have a couple names that I’m itching to use and just waiting for the perfect fit. One of then is “Wild Fox”. Yes, this is a name of a clothing brand but I still love it. This property could’ve fit the wild fox name, but I’m definitely envisioning a home with some high level aspect of crazy. #top9of2020 Beginning of COVID: Me: Wow, staying at home? I’m going to have so much free time! End of the year: Sold Airstream, sold my house, bought a new house, didn’t have a house for a month, so bounced around with kids and all the animals 🐕 🐈 🦎 🐟,complete remodel at the new house, evacuated the new house for a fire that came right up to my neighborhood, meanwhile added 19 new @airbnb properties to my management and furnished most of them top to bottom (which is super easy to do in a pandemic when nothing is in stock 😬). I really have no idea what to expect this coming year and don’t plan on planning very much, although, I do have some big goals and dreams. I’m trying to not be too hard on myself and learning to trust the journey. I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished and how I’ve made a new life for myself after some hard years. It’s not perfect, it’s NOT easy but I love my life right now and look forward to the new year and what surprises it has in store.

Couple before and after’s of one of my latest @airbnb makeovers. The wood poster bed from @ikeausa is one of my all-time favorites. I have it at three of the B&Bs I manage and also have one for my downstairs guestroom. Think I can put it together with my eyes closed now. Per usual I always try to find ways to make a space have a “wow factor” but on a budget. The back bedroom had a wall that was begging for something fun. I grabbed some paint from my garage and just did a little mural of some shapes that were not supposed to be too perfect. The wall was very textured so I couldn’t use tape and had to just wing it. When designing Airbnb‘s I’d like to incorporate design elements that people usually wouldn’t try in their own homes. I want guests to feel like they’re at a fun boutique hotel and maybe be inspired to try something a little out of the box in their own home. One of my favorite details of the new “Fox on Fourth” @airbnb is the front door makeover. I went back-and-forth debating to replace the original front door or to just make it work. The door was in rough shape, had a ton of holes to fill after old hardware was taken out, and seemed like replacing it entirely might just be “easier”. Well, after looking at new door selections and vintage door replacement options, I decided to just give this girl a makeover. My handyman patched the door holes with Bondo, installed new hardware and cut out a wood circle shape to install over the existing square window. I tracked down the paint color requested by the owner which I L🧡VE and gave her a fresh coat of tangerine dream. The entire house got a fresh coat of white paint inside and out, wood floors painted white, geometric carpet, brand new @ikeausa kitchen and @homedepot bath vanity. Dining room and bathroom vinyl floors also got the decorative paint treatment. Furnishing a home during a pandemic is a bit of a feat. I found in stock items from a variety of online retailers, Facebook marketplace, my garage and even the street curb (fab mid century coffee and end tables). In my final days at my last house I honestly had a really hard time envisioning myself anywhere else. There were a couple times I took Biscuit out to potty at night and looked inside at the lit up game room and just balled my eyes out. The work I put into the place, the love in every furniture and decor piece and the sanctuary it became after my divorce. I wasn’t sure if I made the right decision. I’m still not sure. The first couple months at my new house have been hard. Mentally and physically. So many renovations going on at once but progress is slow and never ending. Although I have many more changes to make... like installing a kitchen, renovating bathrooms and the entire downstairs, it’s staaaaarting to feel like home. I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned lately is to just let it go. These changes will come eventually and stressing about it isn’t helping. Who needs even more stress in 2020? 😳 So, one day I’ll have a kitchen again and one day the toilet will work in the master bathroom, but until then I’m just going to make the best of it. Thank goodness for toaster ovens, pre cooked bacon and canned coffee. #remodel #interiordesign #interiordesigner #renovation

Apparently, I haven’t posted anything in almost 2 months 💁🏼‍♀️. Selling my house, buying a new one, a month in between escrows bouncing around, demoing everything inside the new house while living here, momming, managing a slew of bnb’s and designing and furnishing multiple new @airbnb’s might have me a little...occupied. I LOVE doing all of this but just the sheer volume of tasks is a little, LOT, overwhelming. Soooooo, this just means I need to get extra organized, ask for help (any takers?) and get $h!t done. I’m excited to get the bnbs streamlined and get my house more livable by the day. Like floors and a kitchen for starters 💁🏼‍♀️ Until then, here are some beautiful photos by @kbellboudoir of one of my downtown bnbs. I had to make the inside one of a kind as well and wanted to create a warm layered aesthetic. Lots of velvet (including two sleeper sofas for additional guests), black striking accessories, offbeat artwork and gorgeous wallpaper to add a touch of luxe.
